cumbriacrack.com That's a pain for anyone who carefully planned their day out around the busses to avoid parking issues! To park such that the little bus can't get through is ridiculous and so very selfish, butI don't know what the answer is - people watch walkers videos/tv progs of the walk up Catbells etc. They are filmed when it's quiet, so unless you've been there already you don't realise how popular these places are. I'm too worried about my car getting bashed or towed away and am overly cautious finding a parking spot - even around here. I don't get people who happily dump theirs in what is obviously farm-track access. But then I know the local farmers are not averse to "accidentally" nudging anything that's in their way. But all extra car park suggestions have been (probably rightly?) rejected for their impact on the area. My twitter/facebook feed is filling up with, on one hand, complaints about the litter and parking and on the other "Lake District is voted best family holiday destination, come see for yourself" posts. I should think the same applies in Cornwall, parts of the Peak District and also the trendy bits of north Norfolk and Suffolk. |

I saw some shocking parking yesterday...forcing me across the central solid white line. ☹️ There were only about 5 vehicles with tickets on ...on the main road in Rydal near the pelter bridge. There’s obviously not enough parking enforcement people. Beautiful sunshine on a BH weekend...what were the Weather Gods thinking? |

Forecast is currently 18 with a bit of a breeze - that'll be OK I'm convinced this is going to be a scorchio year for the LL50/100 - so need to get used to the sunshin |

Rs - I ran at midday today for that reason. It was nice to be running with sweat rather than rain water for a change. Around here at Gaddings they now have regular traffic wardens and they are ticketing loads. They've even started towing the worst offenders. For once I applaud traffic wardens. Until they do the same in the honeypots and word gets around the problem won't go away. I think maybe the only is be free shuttle buses from major car parks out to the popular "trailheads". |

‘Park and ride’ would be a good option. We headed up Skiddaw today - it wasn’t *that* busy. Tough old climb up… |

Tink's just popped home to collect some summer clothes. She said she arrived at Buttermere at 9am yesterday and thought she'd got the last space in the car park, then when she got back to the car after her walk there were twice as many cars crammed in. She's also been clearing litter from Crow Park in Keswick. "Kids living it up because they've got no exams, don't blame them," is her verdict. |

I'd like to blame autocorrect for my last sentence above, but I don't think even autocorrect can make that much of a mess of it!

The meaning was clear enough - kids "living it up because they've got no exams" I can understand - but locally they've been setting fire to things. That's not living it up, that's just criminal stupidness. We used to have gatherings and parties in the woods 70s/80s, it's nothing new - but I'm fairly sure we didn't leave the mess that's left now. |

We've had reports of kids trying to set fire to things locally. Clothes recycling bins, mostly.
