The issue with Dunmail on a Fri/Sat night at that time is that you might find yourself being disturbed at the moment by BG changeovers. My vote would be for Caldbeck Common too.

I was lucky enough to be in Wasdale this afternoon and early evening. Did a walk around the lake and then climbed up to whin Rigg and Illgill Head. As we drove out of the valley I saw the screes with the evening light on them. What a transformation.. just so beautiful. I’ve always considered them ferocious and ugly .. well they are still ferocious but they’ll never be ugly ever again.

Oh how lovely, RE
The light this evening was special - clear views of distant peaks with gold and pink tints.
Drove down the A5086 for a bit to show husband the views :)
(Sadly the next couple of days look v different)

I think the evening light on Wasdale Screes is one of the very best views in the Lakes :-)

So it’s coming into Heather Season. I’m looking for suggestions on where I might get a good flower show. I went up Ling Fell (Bassenthwaite) today thinking the clue is in the name...but sadly most of the plants looked dead.

Any suggestions?

There was a small good patch on the flank of Bowscale, but I don't remember seeing a lot of colour anywhere

Hmmmm. Maybe that dry Spring has taken its toll on the flowering.

my notes from walking up Ling on Thursday say I did a bit of Heather bashing SW of the top) - but it couldn't have been flowering well otherwise I would have taken a pic or two.
