Yes and yes, unfortunately Muttley. Almost definitely have to get the brand that is compatible with the solar panels you have. They should be interchangeable, but lots of variables. Then battery and grid connection require different capability, so again, need to take that into account for inverter choice too. Not a simple "swap in, swap out". You would need a qualified electrician to install AND to get certificate to connect to grid anyway, so you will have to get them to tell you what inverter they can offer. As far as I can see anyway. :-) G

Understood. The sparky did his magic yesterday and said to phone in today to confirm or otherwise that it was the inverter tripping the RCD in the morning (I figured it was happening when there was enough daylight to wake it up). All is good so a new inverter is what I want.

I know nothing about these things. What I usually say to tradesmen is "what would you advise if this was your mum's house".

Ironically that will help us - well off, low electricity users. Hmm, not sure they've quite grasped the problem.

We have some little electric heaters and an electric fire that we just normally use for the "effect". We put them all on for the free time and heat the house up. Plus washing machine and tumble drier, dishwasher etc.

Fire normally just for effect

Hmmm. I've not been invited for these Power Ups. Must look into it.

Ah, a quick peek on the Octopus website says I'm in the wrong part of the country. Oh well. Enjoy!
