Wightman out of the Olympics. Shame for him, shame for the other 800m runner who could have been an Olympian if Wightman had removed himself from selection.

The other runner would have been Giles who has been pretty level with Wightman at 800 this year.

I hope Giles has kept himself fit and training, I follow his YouTube and he has been pretty down about his performances lately. Then no updates for a while.

Going in late with little expectation from others might suit him (as long as he's been preparing himself for this possible eventuality)

I think him being there suggests they knew Wightman was touch and go. Can't imagine there are that many people flying out as reserves.

Love the first week of the Olympics. I can gorge on swimming and dip into other stuff (diving and triathlon, particularly).

Second week I have to make a choice between T&F and track cycling.
