I think it must be due to how the athlete jumps, some prefer the bar closer or further away from the plant point. Just a guess :-)

Did anyone watch the excellent documentary about Linford Christie last night? After watching it I think there are serious doubts about whether he was a drug cheat. Also appalling racism towards him.

So the opening ceremony starts at 18:30 BST. I confidently predict being monumentally bored by 20:00.

I think it’s due to finish around 23:00.

Not watched it, but read some reviews so intrigued. I've personally considered him to be an unrepentant doper since the conviction, but if there's reason to doubt the validity then it may be worth watching.

I don't remember the case in detail but IIRC when he tested positive he was pretty much retired so it made little sense. Whether he doped in the past is another matter.

Tickets for next year's London Diamond League bought - Block 215. Hopefully I won't need to get an Uber to get from my seats to Bob's next year :)
