Dad out of surgery, no general - just an epidural. Had lunch and chatting away.

My dad is also in lockdown with no further visits from tomorrow until further notice. From what they said I expect this is a Scotland-wide policy (or at a minimum, clear advice that care homes would disregard at their peril). Lucky I visited when I did really. IMO a touch on the draconian side but I can see where they are coming from - not all inmates are in his position after all.

We've kept my mum quite cheerful today. I had a clip of our granddaughter skiing quite competently after about 90 minutes of teaching, and she was really smiling at it and watched it four times. Then she was delighted to see a clip of the six puppies our eldest's dog has just delivered.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
