Thanks guys.

It will be when it happens Daisy - I'm not holding my breath yet. 25th November he was admitted for '24 hours observation'.

Good to get some good news, LMH, hope all continues well.

More good news re my Mum. She had a heart scan a few weeks ago (referred after passing out over lunch at her day centre). Her GP rang her yesterday to let her know that it showed there's nothing wrong with her heart apart from minor probably age-related stuff you'd expect in an organ that's been working very well for over 90 years. Not surprised really, we thought the faint was far more likely to be a diabetes/BP thing. She's been brilliant about managing her own diabetes for decades, but I think she's getting fed up with it all now and doesn't always eat as well as she should.

And her day centre, which had its council funding withdrawn last year, has managed to find the funding to keep going for another year. This is mainly through the outstanding efforts of the two amazing women who run it, who have proved to be fabulous fundraisers as well as lovely, caring people.

He is safely back in the home. Hopefully some breathing space now before he either has a fall and breaks something or catches the Coronavirus.

That is good news on both counts jabberknit.

So that's an interesting perspective...Macron has just explicitly recommended that people avoid visiting their old relatives. I'm going up to see my parents next week. Though having been hiding away at home in a small town and hardly out of the house in the past fortnight I think I'm much more likely to catch it off them than vice versa.

Working in front line healthcare then coming home to a frail elderly relative could present us with a bit of a dilemma. The old man's lack of interest in socialising is a blessing.

I wonder if some homes here will put themselves into lock down as a precaution but I think that the situation will have to get worse before that's likely.

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
