I hope it goes as well as possible. Will you get a chance to get out for a walk or other adventure?

I think we're all supposed to be going for a walk. There should be enough of us to keep tabs on FiL I hope!

Wishing you all a special day MrG šŸ˜

I remember when my grandad was like that - he used to think I was my auntie in her teens, and didnā€™t know who my auntie was šŸ™ or that I was his grand daughter. We made it work by my auntie telling me about things and I played them to him when she was around - he would light up with those happy times when he remembered and I think it helped my auntie too. It felt very strange and uncomfortable at first as if I was deceiving him but as it brought two people happiness and hopefully no harm I played the part until he passed.

Thanks JDA, hopefully the doctor just forgot to sign the PoA form. As his details are on there I would need to request an amended version so will see how it goes. Just such a pain when I am relying on others to get things right!!

Thanks LMH, I am off for a long walk in a bit - time to myself and to enjoy the lovely weather before I get my 2nd C19 jab later. Also thanks for offering support and a chance to offload xxx

Iā€™ve been back and forth to my parents over the past couple of weeks as dadā€™s been discharged from hospital but remains very frail. Weā€™ve been looking at old photos but so many of their friends are now dead itā€™s a sad exercise. I hope the celebration goes well McG but definitely tinged with sadness.

Mum is just hanging on now. She knows Iā€™m there when I visit, but thatā€™s about it. She still eating (yoghurts and soup only), but the last stage, refusing food, isnā€™t far away, I suspect.

About This Thread

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
