By the way, the prom today wasn`t any worse than the Boxing Day parkrun last year. However, getting to and from the car-park down the hill would have been a chellenge, and the alternative parking area at Silverknowes was about 60% less than usual. Had a nice late afternoon walk down there though. Best laugh was folk skiiing on the prom! :-)

Fantastic Christmas morning parkrun this morning. Great to see so many familiar faces. 87 runners and a fair few volunteers too. Managed to snap some pics in between my timekeeping duties and you can see them at:

Have to say ,it was disappointing to learn that the Edinburgh course was short and had to be extended by 80m very recently ....

Wasn't short by mr garmin on the occasions when I ran it. 5.12 was the lowest reading I took. Glasgow was also short when it started, twice! I believe the Edinburgh organisers were waiting for an official course measurer as I had mentioned their NAD status on power of 10 to them some months ago.

And at the end of the day it's a time trial, not a race, so it doesn't really matter what the distance is as long as you beat your previous best!!! :)

I always found it to be about 4.9k on my garmin. Its probably quite tricky to measure accurately, i.e. to pick the shortest racing line so I do have sympathy with the measurers. I am sure if you hug the left hand side out and back, then you would run 5K ,but if you take the straightest route you will cover less.

It is a shame, just means I need to get back down sharpish and sort out my PB !

Indeed Baz, take the 4.9KM PB and look forward to setting a new 5K PB :)
