Anyone not running but interested in making a mini-Fetchpoint? http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=56096 |

Strained a calf muscle and I may be out, absolutely gutted this close and with so many miles done. Will try a few miles tomorrow.

deeg my advice would be do NOT try running tomorrow. Get an appointment with a good sports physio, massage or chiro. Nothing to gain by trying the run, can only loose. The training should pretty much be done now so even if you were unable to do much or anything runningwise now I would not stress overly. You still have a chance of towing the line if you get the calf looked at. Hope it is not serious.

I would agree with HT.....A few years back I strained my calf on my last LR 4 weeks out and after a physio appt and 5 days rest I was absolutely fine. Running tomorrow is too big a risk and likely to set you back....give it a few days and see a physio on Monday if you can

Well done Duchess on the min ifetch pointing, would be great to have a cheer or two along the route. Deeg, no running for a few days should see improvements, you won't lose any fitness, go for a swim if you feel the need to exercise. |

I agree with HT too - all those miles you've put in will put you in good stead if you recover. I didn't run for 4 weeks before the Rome marathon in March because of a knee thing. (I did manage some cross training after some physio.) I got round it - slower than I would have liked but the race is against the distance not the time. Resit, Ice...etc. You know the drill. Hope it gets well.
