A cool and considered choice, jda. The progress of Gimme's running this spring really deserves celebrating starstarstar all round!

There have been some right little pearlers this weekend. I dunno, everyone has STEPPED UP* to the challenge.

And it really is spring now - let's make the most of this last glorious week with its additional freedoms starting tomorrow. Get outside!

*least favourite description of changing race distances but used appropriately here I wager.

You aren't getting all emotional about your ''child'' are you Sharkie? ;)

Good choice Jda.

I am newting again as I am eating the first purple sprouting broccoli of the season. I better eat some every day, as, when I planted it last year, I was still supplying to the village shop but sadly, they banned me because they don't agree with my planning application... So, I have loads and loads! Suppose it can be frozen. Hmmm... and given to friends :)

Be prepared as it takes about 12-14 months for it to produce! First time I grew it I was very disappointed, as I didn't know this. I decided to keep the plants going over winter, for their leaves, which I ate, then lo and behold the purple sprouts appeared as well! Such a good value plant... I leave it for the butterflies/caterpillars in summer too, it tends to fully recover come winter for greens and then around this time: sproutings :)

I roasted a chicken yesterday. It was admittedly a pre-prepared, satinatray sealedinabag chicken, but still.

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
