57.5 Degrees of Pain
[You could post it on the 'Scotland based runs & runners 2021' Plb. It's the only thread in Fetchland I oversee so if anyone complains I'll pick up the proverbial thread football and run home greeting.] |

That was yesterday Zorbs, and I think the point was well made that we need to see things like protection of children more robustly signed up to by UK gov't. It will be reconsidered in Holyrood, amended and then will be passed successfully. Supreme Court even said they were not disagreeing with the substance of the bills. I wish you'd actually cite references - I've had to assume this is what you were referring to? bbc.co.uk |

This whole episode does appear to be have poorly handled all round. Well intended legislation that all MSPs supported but ultimately was legislation that was not possible for Holyrood to pass. It appears that Holyrood were aware of this and went ahead anyway and now we have all sides trying to claim some kind of a moral high ground which could all have been avoided.

Surelynot
Legal advice given to the Scottish Government suggested it was within its remit. Even more reasons for getting out of the Union. I'm beginning to think Zorba's a troll. |

Zorba was at my first ever parkrun many years ago, so he does exist... Legal wrangling over a topic that all sides agree on does not reflect well on anyone. |

I can also confirm sitings of, and even conversations with, Zorba, in a running environment. I guess he never realised that I was one of those feeelthy separatists. |

Zorba is a perfectly nice bloke in person, but he def chooses to lob in challenging wee one liners on topics on which he has a strong view. I'm choosing to complain about it, but to try and be relaxed about it, because in the last few years, he hasn't changed his approach. We don't have much of an argument about it, because he tends not to reply to the replies! Hope you are well and running is good Zorba *waves* ![]() |
