Thank you rhb - I have tabs open on my browser for your suggestion and the one made by Linds - I'll have a good look and get one ordered I think :-)

In case you folks haven't seen, now's an ideal time to sign up for the new UTMOST Bike League:

fetcheveryone.com/utmost-bike.php

I'll be doing a daily re-order of the table until the end of next week - so if you're a speed-merchant, you won't have to work your way through weeks of promotions.

NB anything classed as a virtual ride, or assisted, or at home on a machine - are all excluded from the tables (at least, as best I can).

I clicked on the link and there I was in division 5! Looks fun - in fact possibly a bit more fun than the running version!!

I hope it proves to be so, AL.

I'm hoping to do my first 50 miler this weekend. Got my route planned out to hoover up some Conquercise zones: fetcheveryone.com/routes-view.php?id=1842450 and there's a shortcut at 31 miles if I need it. And the last significant hill should be done by about 38 miles in, so the last bit shouldn't be too bad (famous last words).

Now to work out what snacks I can fit in my saddle bag :-)

Fetch, has this new found interest in long distance cycling prompted thoughts about the potential benefits of long sleeved Fetch cycling tops???

Looks fun and punchy.

Are you intending to eat whilst riding, or pause to eat? It can change the best food option.

If you're eating whilst riding, you need something you can unwrap easily and control one handed. You also need something that's easy to take a small mouthful of and swallow - you'll still need to breathe!

It shouldn't matter too much in current conditions, but if you are storing it in your saddlebag (rather than pockets), be aware that many bars can get really hard if they get cold. I've nearly broken my teeth trying to eat a bar straight out of a top tube bag in the winter. Body heat can help keep the bar fairly soft.

I can recommend wine gums Fetch - and I used High 5 drinks rather than plain water for my 2 long rides this year. We had a couple of stops en route for food and fuel and it was surprising how refreshed it made me feel!

I recommend malt loaf. It's basically cake but works for me!
