DrK, I've got to agree with all your points; I'd also add Rogers' knock on Thursday. The fact that all the highlights were performances by batsmen says a lot about the bowling displays, and why the game ended a draw.

While there were no standout seamers, the Aussie ones bowled superbly as a unit and kept England under pressure. Bell's and Pietersen's innings were better for the quality and pressure they were played against.

Interesting development in the DRS/Hotspot saga this morning with an Aussie report claiming "that Hot Spot was failing to detect edges hitting bats because of batsmen applying silicone tape" telegraph.co.uk The Telegraph report then goes on to say the inventor of Hot Spot is apparently blaming the failure of Hot Spot to show nicks on "the fibreglass coating on some bats". If the system can not reliably identify edges due to tape and/or coatings on bats, that were allowed long before Hot Spot was invented, then the system is not fit for purpose and therefore should not IMO be relied upon within DRS so heavily. |

My company makes the Hot Spot cameras. They are military grade. Don't get any better sensors on the market.

Make the bats out of that stuff they use at the start of the long jump - then you can just look for marks.

gotta love the technology - just makes for even more hotly contested debating - which is all good as far as I'm concerned
