The Aussies will be licking their lips in anticipation at the thought of getting stuck into Trott with a barrage of chin music and verbals and it's hardly a brave new direction; Lyth could be another Root.

Cook needs county cricket; if he can't play the W. Indies, goodness only knows how he'll cope with NZ or Aussie quicks.
