Bresnan back into Yorkshire squad at Edgbaston. Few getting starts, but no-one going on so far. Might need his batting to stiffen up the tail, although as Yorkshire tails go, the current one isn't bad. Rashid, Bres, Pyrah, Plunkett and Sidebum can all bat. I think Hodd is ok as well. Just Patterson who is a genuine bunny.

Ah, ok Pyrah has been replaced by Bresnan. That makes more sense now.

Lots of starts - everyone, bar Hodd, got out for between 24 and 52 so far. Still, should hopefully get a 1st innings lead of 150-200 with two days to go...

England 138-3 off 70 overs. Is there a snoozing icon?

I've opted for a few overs of IPL to remind me what a boundary looked like. Only because David Miller was having a proper tonk though.
Back to Lords now.

Interesting to see Sreesanth amongst those arrested for spot fixing. If true, it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. Although the sums of cash involved for bowling a dodgy over - up to $100k - you can see why some journeyman cricketer would be tempted. For those amounts of cash, there must be many more involved.

If conditions are that tricky, why didn't England put New Zealand in?

Isn't the rule always bat first at Lords? By day 3-4 the pitch has deteriorated terribly.

The wicket at Lord's has played well throughout the past few years. I'd have stuck New Zealand in personally. 2 runs an over is unnecessarily tugid. I can appreciate the need for defensive batting when required, but this is making New Zealand look better than they are.
