We're taking my Mum's notoriously grumpy partner to Durham with us. But my Mum hadn't told him it was an Ashes match, she just said we going to Durham to watch some cricket and he was invited. When I mentioned it was an Ashes game, he actually smiled! I've known him for nearly 20 years, I can't remember ever seeing him smile before. Not even when I took him to OT.

Dooogs - Jaques, Gale, Balance & Rashid SHOULD all be capable of scoring runs, but the problem is the middle order collapse only ever seems to be a wicket away!

I'm looking forward to seeing how Root does, hopefully no earlier than after Tea this afternoon.

Grr, got to w**k on something that needs concentration for the next couple of hours. Might stick TMS on the headphones after lunch, though...

I like Jaques - its' 6 onwards that worries me.

Rashid
Pyrah
Plunkett
Hodd
Sidebottom
Patterson

just feels like a collapse waiting to happen. It'll look a lot stronger with Bairstow in for Hodd and Bresnan in for (probably) Pyrah. Interesting to see how Sayers does - he's not had much of a look-in since his illness a couple of years back...

Right, w**k.

Tuffers and Aggers on the merits of tank tops. Simply don't get this quality of commentary anywhere else.

I may spend a happy 45 mins for lunch in the car listening to TMS, and having a light doze. The perfect lunch break?

let's hope the tank top debate is still going (they can usually stretch trivial matters out a staggering length of time, so quietly confident).

Rashid can bat well at times, Plunkett can hot a few, collapsable though, better than Gloucs anyday.....

Cannot bear Boycs, I turn off TMS when he's commentating, wife* beater that he is.

* technically it was his GF, but he still thumped a woman.
