Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sri Lanka would have chased 400 today. Not under any pressure at all. We're gash, utter gash.

stats.espncricinfo.com England's stats so far. Broad and Anderson not performing, Ballance not performing, Morgan not performing. Can't expect a good team performance when 4/11 aren't contributing.

Is it just me who's not convinced about Moeen? Decent bowler, but doesn't look comfortable batting.

I watched England bat last night. Thought Root and Buttler did what they could. Ballance looks horrible and Morgan could barely get it off the square. No urgency, and a complete inability to rotate the strike - no aggressive running to pressurize the field. We let a part-time spinner (Dilshan) and a bloke bowling dibbly medium pacers (Mathews) completely take our momentum.

Root accelerated well and Buttler was Buttler. What was noticeable was that when England did go hard at the end, Root and Buttler both were able to throw the bowlers off their lengths because of their improvisational skills - its what ABDV and Maxwell do so well - so that the bowlers end up bowling to the batsman's plan and not the other way around.

After we were going at 7 an over at the start I was begging them to put their foot on the SL throats but they just back off...

I thought SL did well to keep Bell off strike once he'd got into the 30's and as a result they got to far less talented batsmen to face.

I suspect that the England management had piles of stats showing that 300 was a good target. Cos it looked like that was all they were aiming at the whole innings.

With an unchanged side for every game, what does that say about those not playing?

They are probably constructing books about the current England setup and not being too bothered about turning out for them again ;-)

Kevin Pietersen is pissing himself in a commentator box somewhere. Swann is probably relieved he got out when he did!
