At least we aren't bottom of the group. Scotland have a slightly worse NNR than us.

Just been glancing at the fixtures. Are they not a tad unbalanced? England play the Kiwis on Friday. By my reconing this will be New Zealand's third game. Win, and I see no reason why the should not and they are virtually in the Quarter-Finals.

I think it was based on the teams grading when the world cup was announced, back then England were Numero Uno........

Whole tourno is bonkers. They'll be at it for a month, and all that will have happened is the associate members will have been knocked out and the test playing nations will line up in the quarters. EXcept possibly the Windies and England

Not as bonkers as the next one - a 6 week qualifying tournament (except for the top 8? in the world rankings) to decide which 2 associate nations get to join in the 10 team tournament.
The stupidity is that it's because India want a round-robin tournament so they are guaranteed 9 games.
Means teams like Ireland, UAE, Afganistan who have all benefited massively from being part of this world cup and previous ones, will miss out and be given no chance to improve.
Stupid short-sightedness from the ICC and the new structure that gives India, England and Australia too much power.

Why they can't have a 16team tournament, with 4 groups of 4, 3 games each - winners and RUs through to knock-out, much like the football one, I don't know (well I do, it's all down to money)
In a knock-out tournament, all games are then meaningful, increases excitement and interest.

Think I'd rather see a fairly quick initial set of groups (so the associate members get a couple of games), but once down to the final 8 have the quarters, semis and final all as best of 3. I hate seeing world cup knockout games effectively decided by the toss.

I'm rooting for Ireland to go and smash everyone just to prove the absurdity of the 2019 format. If it's a pitch with a bit of lateral movement, they might well fancy it against India!
