windies are an ramshackle outfit, can easily see a really good team in their group shoot them out for peanuts.
3 hours to go! i reckon if new zealand bat they'll run up near 370-380 and we'll come up about a hundred short, and if we bat first we'll be pinned back to 240 odd and the kiwis will knock them off in about 40 overs....

My main hope is that the Kiwis can be inconsistent. But I rather fear they'll still have too much firepower for Scotland even when not firing on all cylinders.

HowFar?
I had a nervous few moments when wickets started tumbling, but a couple of boundaries from Niall O'Brian settled the ship and all was well. I'm glad I fell asleep before the Windies got to their last 10 overs though, or I would have been very depressed about our chances.
I imagine it will all fall apart against UAE in just over a week's time, but for now we'll just sit back and enjoy it.

yep, there's the problem. boult, southee, milne are all crackerjack ODI bowlers and vettori is still a crafty old swine at this level. i can still clearly remember that game at mannofield where they shot us out for 100 and knocked them off in about an hour, urgh...

Look on the bright side. You know England will make much harder weather of it!

yeah, would still be a monumental off day for the ingerlund if we got anywhere near beating them.
I don't think there's anything wrong with this pitch, just fine new-ball bowling with a trace of swing has cut us in half here. at least this isn't going to be a (very) late night....

In case anyone wasn't aware (and doesn't pay money to the evil Murdoch empire) there are highlights of world cup games on itv4. I think they're on at 10pm.
Caught the end of the Ireland innings from last night. Niall O'Brien looked very assured against the windows bowlers, even with their wobble. They could progress to the QFs - they should be Zimbabwe and UAE, so they only need one win from the remaining 3 - India and SA should be too strong, but Pakistan are very beatable...
As for the other group, England might just scrape through by beating Bangladesh, Scotland and Afghanistan, surely.....

I like the Windows as a nickname.
If Pakistan beat the Windows, then Ireland might only need beat UAE and Zimbabwe. It might all come down to net run rate anyway.
