Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What's this business about it being too windy to have the floodlights on at Canterbury?

Apropos nothing at all, I have been reminiscing on the Famous Birthdays thread about Gordon Greenidge's century in each innings at Old Trafford in 1976. He reached 101 in the second innings and on the next ball he took an almighty swing at Mike Selvey's delivery and missed. Middle stump removed. As Greenidge walked back to the pavilion, he had a big grin on his face.

(It's Mike Selvey's birthday today.)

Bairstow scored some runs for Yorks 2s yesterday. Good signs.

Anyway, just popped in to say that county cricket doesn't half shoot itself in the foot a lot of the time.

Bank Holiday weekend. No CC action for half the counties. Why don't they schedule games to start Sat and then run to Tues. Same for the following weekend. All the games are scheduled for finish Sunday - but the Monday is a bank Hol - have them finish then!

(nobody cares about an accident of birth having lots of public money spent on an anachronistic ceremony that shouldn't be happening).

Bonkers.

Full round of Rachael Heyhoe Flint fixtures on Saturday and Monday, although that doesn't help you because Yorkshire aka northern diamonds are away both days.

Talking of Yorkshire. I see Lord Patel is out. They should take International cricket back off them until they sort themselves out.
