The stumping was difficult - they took ages with the decision and I think they tought they didn't have a clear enough view from one angle. Trott's lbw looked plum and they didn't have the snicker until later as it's not part of the DRS

The head on looked like a clear deflection on the Trott lbw.
The stumping wasn't even close to not out.

It was much more clearly out than the shocker that Bell got in the Champions Trophy.

I thought we got the rough end of both DRS calls as well. That third umpire has a lot to answer for imho.

Was there sufficient evidence to suggest that the lbw was wrong? I don't think so. The umpire must have thought inside edge as it was bloody plumb and the video evidence suggested he might well have got an edge, certainly it wasn't clear he missed it so the decision should have stood. Stumping was more difficult -any doubt should in theory be given to the batsmen but umpires bottle all run outs and stumpings these days and refer them

Back to the good old days where the on field umpires made the decisions. Square leg umpires in particular now seem incapable of making a decision if DRS is available.

I agree with that - everything gets referred upstairs to avoid any cock-ups. Or at least in theory...

Although I was at an ODI at the Oval vs India where Peter Hartley gave Colly not out on a run out. It then came up on the big screen and showed Colly was clearly out. So Hartley then referred it upstairs. OK, the right decision was finally given, but it was an interesting point of protocol as to whether the umpire was allowed to do that having initially ruled it not out on the field.

Had an excellent day at Trent Bridge yesterday, apart from the "entertainments" during the interval. Why don't they accept that some people (i would suggest at least 80% of yestedays crowd) are perfectly capable of amusing themselves for 40 minutes by talking or reading without some "street dancers" or "drummers" making a racket in front of them.
My friends and i had a little "guess the score at the end of the day" competition. With the weather forecast i fancied Australia to bat most of the day and predicted that England would be 80-2 at the close. My friends reckoned that we would roll them ove rby lunch and get up to 180 or so. When after one hour Australia were 117-9 my mate turned to me and basically took the piss for my prediction.
When England got to 79-2 with what turned out to be 5 overs left we were cheering every dot ball much to the bewilderment of the crown around us, and celebrated the 80th run with much joy. of course i didn't have any money on it, but what a day - cricket, bloody hell.
