Oh my. I wouldn't even be able to confidently locate all of my kit as eldest son has benefitted from the odd donation and I haven't played for 5 years now, rightly so. I could still bat but my fielding retired early and I didn't want to be that guy.

I have no kit of any description. Last "real" cricket was 20 years ago. Did play a couple of seasons of pub cricket about 15 years ago.

But, in my head......

Oh sh*t. Maybe I couldn't still bat. Good point, Nico. Surely my trusted square cut would be last to go.

As an aside, as a kid I used to practice in our garage, throwing the ball across the width and playing the ball principally through point to cover to score runs across to a wall that was about 10 metres away as the 'boundary'. Playing through square leg would result in destruction of dad's home brew bottles and as a result was rare. I couldn't change sides because there were things in the way that way...

As a result, my 'v' when batting was extra cover to backward point and I scored heavily there. Happy memories of time on my own as a teen :-)

I remember when I first started playing indoor cricket back in the late 80's, I kept getting caught off the net off every short ball. I could not stop myself hooking and pulling.

My catching and fielding was good...later years I could drop anything. Batting I could hang about with a rarely used cover drive...bowling...I reckon my dibbley dobblers would get wickets...I can move it both ways...that's enough for a lot of batsmen.

my mobile tried to change dobblers to cobblers....is it telling me something?

Anyone up for organising a Fetch Wild Geese XI when all this Covid is behind us?
