I played as recently as September or October. I generally play once every two years. However, my shoulder has gone since then, not sure I could bat, let alone bowl, and I never could throw anyway.

I last played about 10 years ago for the local 3rds, aged 47 or so. My all-round skills were a shadow of their mediocre best, I dread to think how terrible I'd be now.

I'm imagining something like that Harry's Heroes programme, but much, much more unfit and useless. And cricket instead of football, obviously.

Pleased to say I haven’t deteriorated in the slightest.

I was far too useless for any sort of representative cricket other than the standard office annual p&ss up game.

I have steadily maintained that level of far too useless ever since, helped by having no technique to lose in the first place.

But, of course, happy to serve.....
