Why would you "visualise" a left-handed shot when you're a right handed batsman?

As much as I wan it to be true, I'm not sure I see it.

A batsman is always likely to confirm his guard at the start of a new session, and at any point during an innings when he's not sure where it is. If it's all scuffed he'll just ask the ump again. So I can't see why you'd do this hoping to gain an advantage.

It would irritate the f*ck out of me if someone did that when I had a nicely marked guard going as you 'build' it like an innings. After you have been there a while, you are more reassured by it than anything, it is part of your space, so it is definitely getting into someone's head to do it.

Little things can cheer you up. I have two tickets for England v India at Headingley, 28th August 2021. Last time I saw day 4 test match cricket at Headingley some bloke called Stokes batted quite well. A beacon of hope in the gloom.

Never done Edgbaston, done Old Trafford, Durham (Chester le Street), Trent Bridge and Lords. Been to the Oval as well (but not for a Test).

I’ve only ever been to one test match. It was the first day of the first test in a series against Pakistan at Lords in 1996. Inzamam scored 148
