foz - i don't totally dismiss the numbers, and take the point. mcgrath in 2006/07 was a bit of a shadow of himself, and if you get brought up using the kookaburra you develop the necessary skills when a ball isn't hooping about. if anderson can get a send off at a post-covid full oval next summer, that seems most fitting.
My point is that I think Anderson has developed the skills with the Kookaburra that few other English bowlers have.
It's possible he'll retire after this test, but I'm extremely circumspect that he will given his pre-series rhetoric and from what he said after the first test against Pakistan where he was very cross about the criticism.
Subject to Covid issues...then:
England's (test) programme has them going to India in the Winter for 5 tests (where it's unlikely Anderson will play all 5 tests anyway).
Then there's the world test championship final in England next June and India at home for 5 tests. I wonder if that's Anderson's aim - finish on a potential final in England and then India at home.
Can't see him retiring after an away series. And the next "big" series in England isn't until the Ashes in 2023 (I think - not currently on the FTP).
