Off the top of my head, selecting only players playing in my viewing time (which excludes the likes of Hobbs, Laker, Lock, Bedser(s), Edrich, Barrington, May and more)
M Butcher (although for sentimental reasons I wanted to put Alan) A Stewart G Thorpe M Ramprakash G Roope R Knight A Hollioake J Richards I Salisbury P Pocock R Jackman
Having said I was spoilt for choice, I'm not if I limit my choices to those that have played since the late seventies. I doesn't seem like we've had any decent fast bowlers for decades.

Root in the least efficient list? Would be the proof of the pudding for the talk about him not converting scores into tons.

I'd guess brearley (just sneaks into fetch's qualifications playing his last test in81) would be least efficient (for a batsman) as he never got a test ton.
