As a Glamorgan boy, it's quicker for me to decide who to leave out.

I was unsure about Hendrick, because I can't remember if he played for us after his International career. Although I did watch him play against us for the sheepsh*ggers.

Just remember Grep, it's spelt P-R-I-N-G-L-E at the top of the list.

I've just predicted Greppers' Essex XI. I will seal it in an envelope until he shows his hand.

Lancashire. A lot of very good players left out, and obviously quite a lot of players that I only know from the record books. Spin bowling a bit of a weak spot.
Michael Atherton - Captain.
Cyril Washbrook – he and Len Hutton hold the record opening stand for England, 359 against South Africa
Archie MacLaren – Scored the first ever first class quadruple century – 424 against Somerset at Taunton in 1895, amassed in eight hours, a record for an innings in England until Brian Lara.
Eddie Paynter – Averaged 59.23 in test cricket, including double centuries against both Australia and South Africa and played a decisive batting role in the Bodyline series. Still the second highest average for an England batsman.
Ernest Tyldesley – Keeping his older brother Johnny, out of the team, the only Lancastrian to score 100 first class hundreds. (Johnny scored 73 centuries for Lancashire, but his top score in tests was only 138).
Andrew Flintoff
WK George Duckworth – Took 925 dismissals for the county and 60 for England and gets the nod over Jos Buttler.
Johnny Briggs – a slow left arm bowler, famed for his fielding at the time and with a decent batting average. He caught the Aussies on a ‘sticky’ in Sydney in 1894 to achieve the first test victory by a side following on (Aus 586, Eng 325 and 437, Aus 166, Eng won by 10 runs).
Sydney Barnes – rate as one of the all-time great bowlers. In 27 test matches he took 189 wickets at an average of 16.43, including more than 70 in Australia. He took 49 wickets at 10.93 in four matches in South Africa.
Brian Statham – right arm fast bowler Took 252 wickets for England. For Lancashire, he finished his career with an average of 16.

Hmm, following Nich's rules and just picking a) players I've seen and b) those who were at Yorkshire at the time they played for England:
Moxon
Lyth Vaughan (c) Root Blakey (wk) Bairstow (YJ)
White
Rashid Gough Hoggard Sidebottom (R)
Blakey's the weak link - toss-up between him and Ballance. Sorely tempted to add Gavin Hamilton for comedy value...

That's odd formatting...
Schadenfreude question: are there any first-class counties that couldn't raise an England XI? Durham, due to recency, maybe?
