My dad, 80, has just tested positive - a week or so after having a really bad virus that knocked him sideways and kept him in bed for 5 days. He lives over 3 hours drive away on his own, but thankfully has good friends/neighbours by. |

Ugh to all maladies! I had the shingles jab a while ago. It hurt! Not as bad as shingles that I had ten years ago which was grim . Had fourth COVID jab and flu jab recently. Have had COVID three times and unfortunately diagnosed with long COVID following multi tests. Struggling to run ever since first dose in 2020 resulting in unbelievable inability to do what I did formerly..run wise. Under a COVID consultant now and taking trials of meds to alleviate symptoms. Avoid anyone with COVID....you don't know for sure what the outcome will be! |

@steve45 my partner had long COVID for a couple of years and she ended up doing some hyperbaric chamber treatments which were the only thing that seemed to have some measurable effect. It took a good while and repeated treatments but she is getting back to how she was pre-covid now so it may be worth asking if it's an option for you? Either way, I hope you find something that helps. |

Private covid jab today (Boots), the price gouging rankles a bit but although we never had it particularly badly, it still put both my wife and I in bed twice over the last few years and I think there's quite a lot of evidence that it's generally bad for the ongoing health of the nation at all ages. Plus, still got a lot of local oldies (and my mother) that we don't really want to kill off.

I'm eligible for this autumn booster as over 65, but wasn't eligible for the booster early in the year. But if I wasn't now eligible I would pay to have it done privately as I was quite poorly in September with a second bout of Covid. I'm fine now but my running has had to start completely from scratch. |

eL Bee! had his jabs today. I'm not eligible for free jabs but will pay for them once I'm over whatever I'm currently snivelling with.

My son paid £100 for a COVID jab because he's not age eligible but doesn't want to chance experiencing the same as me . I've been on a trial of meds now since April and have a second review next week. My wife, who also runs, tells me that my "form" and pace has clearly improved visually. However I continue to struggle to run continuously more than two minutes....but eight months ago it was hard to do twenty seconds. I begin a new self imposed more structured running programme soon which I reckon will show results by the end of a three month period. The hyperbaric chamber sounds interesting Gooner, thanks for that info . I have to say that so far I've had excellent NHS input and had far more tests than would normally be offered. I'm very much an oldie (75) and I could easily have been sidelined U suppose. It was fortunate that I had a load of data re pace/ heart rate/ endurance capacity which went back decades so I had clear evidence of the sudden decline which also impacted on day to day activities and being "wiped out" much of the time. |

I had my appointment/ discussion with the COVID consultant yesterday. We agreed that I'd remain on the prescribed medication until next April and then review again. Happy with that.
