Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That is *literally* criminal and they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves!

Yes heard that story every one of the 400 should have the book hurled at them. Apparently the windows were boarded up so no one could see what was going on inside, and they were legging it down the street after when the Police showed up.

Hope the Police got there nice and early to ruin the day for everyone.

On the More or Less thing, the summary was:
Assuming high take up of vaccines and the >70 group are all vaccinated by mid Feb, this would mean a 60% reduction in hospital admissions by mid-March and a 1/3rd reduction in ICU admissions.
If the decision was made to "let the virus rip" in mid-Feb because the most vulnerable had been protected, the NHS would still "probably" be overwhelmed, however.

Given that, I still think they will be relaxing things in March... what and by how much is the question.

I get the sense that Downing Street is being more cautious than they were, but I wouldn't disagree that mid-March unlocking some education and other services / businesses wouldn't surprise me. Though there was a news report last night that delaying pubs / restaurants until May was under consideration.

I have to agree that there is little 'incentive' to be tested, especially for those who've had no protracted contact with those outside their household.

If I was feeling OKish, I'd dread being told to stay indoors for ten days. Maybe, a sneaky midnight walk.

He said he hopes some open before Easter, which effectively means mid-March. Not much point opening for just 1 week, especially with mass testing required prior to opening.

But "hoping" for it and actually delivering it are two different things. End of feb does feel quite a way away still though, so it wouldn't surprise me if they announced some regional re-openings in the last week of Feb (giving 2 weeks notice) with a blanked reopening after the Easter break.

Whether that would be right / sensible or not is a different question of course. March 23rd will be a key date for the government I suspect as the sense of "a year since lockdown" etc will be important.
