Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

As I’ve repeatedly said - test and trace can only work if people comply and the evidence suggests that they don’t either by giving false details, not filling in the online form or answering the phone, not giving contact details or not self isolating when required. Equally we can’t complain about lack of testing capacity when people who don’t meet the criteria lie in order to get a test. As for those who go for a test and then decide that the self isolation rules whilst waiting for the result don’t apply to them........

All of those, LMH. But I'm willing to be they are a minority of the whole population. There may a be overlaps between people who behave "badly" and then catch it because they've behaved badly, and then don't take responsibility for their actions, and then fail to help the T&T, but suggest we ask people to dob them in to the newpapers rather than the police. (Let the Daily Mail track them down!) I don't see they need to be arrested, and fined, especially when they don't have the means to pay in the first place, just named and shamed. Maybe a big black mark painted on their door?

It really doesn’t matter how many are avoiding procedures, the fact that some do negates the effect of the system. I don’t have a large circle of friends but know several who have either given false details, not given any, been out and about whilst waiting for results, had visitors indoors (against local Restrictions ) or met with others in cafes despite being in a higher level. I am sure that many on here have the same. Unfortunately it starts to make one a tad peeved when you follow guidelines ( to the extent of sitting outside the cafe in the wet and cold ) when those you know and should know better don’t.

In response to a question from leader of Scottish Tories in HoC, BoJo has just recently confirmed that the furlough scheme will be available to any part of the UK in the future if it requires to go into full lockdown

What do we believe the world (uk) would look like with 100% compliance to all measures thus far? Could we have got to zero cases?

Maybe it would have looked like NZ?

Or maybe Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan - where people are more compliant

People are social creatures. We love to see family and friends and this virus exploits that. That’s the cruelest and most difficult bit :(

We would need to have been at zero cases before schools and universities reopened. There's no chance of getting to zero cases with schools and uni's open (unless they're is a drastic change to the way lessons / courses are delivered)
