Hi fresh start, I have been doing this since 2007 on advice from my specialist as I have bad endometriosis, I generally take 3 packs back to back and then have a break. Without doing this my life would be a write-off. As with all medical things though I would advise asking your GP to be safe, but I think you'd be fine and you want to be able to enjoy your trip!

Another fan of the Mirena coil here. Got my life back when I had it fitted. No worries of what my body may do when races or holidays are coming up. Can't fault it.

I encourage women to take two or three packs of pills without a break if it suits them. There's no evidence that it isn't safe, and if you take your pills every day you shouldn't get a breakthrough bleed.

On a similar note, but slightly different, daughter is likely to get her period whilst on holiday, and it can be painful, plus she's not confident with tampons yet. Am I right in thinking GP can prescribe something to put the period off? Is it just OCP for a few weeks?

FS, when I was on the 'normal' pill, I used to run about 6 packs together without a break.
I never managed to find a progesterone pill that worked for me. All of them were just a nightmare. I felt squeamish about the implant so now we are just 'careful' with no contraception instead!

Your GP can prescribe norethisterone for a short time to delay a period

I was squeamish about the implant and I remember a GP asking me if I was some sort of coward. I walked out of the appointment and refused to see him again

Has anyone suffered with mouth ulcers whilst being on the pill? I got my implant taken out after a horrible year with it including 3 months of continuous bleeding at the end. My nurse put me on Mercilon and I'm now on my 2nd pack but have had a mouth infection since I started them. The ulcers get better individually but move all round my mouth, tongue and have been in my throat. At first I thought I was a wee bit run down due to the bleeding and then I gave blood but I've been taking Metatone and feel fine other than my mouth. It's starting to get me down as they can be sore and sometimes talking is an issue so I'm avoiding social occasions when they are bad.

Yeah risky maybe but I very very rarely have periods anyway so figure my chances are ok.
