Apologies if this has been asked before but this is a very big thread now and I can't go through it all. I notice from the blurb on the games front page that if you log a bike ride or a run it counts - will walking entries also be counted?

Good stuff. I'll go for a geographical spread rather than to conquer a zone then

[um, in the rules walking or running both count as 2 points. However, if I am walking, I set my garmin to "cross-train" and claim only 1 point. Seems reasonable.]

The points seem to reflect the effort, so cyclists invest no effort and glide across hundreds of miles in a day and get one point per zone. Runners, work a lot harder to cover the distance so get 2 points and swimmers 4. If you are walking I don't see why you wouldn't claim the 2 points you are due. The debate probably boils down to the nature of the walking: if you use a GPS to walk a mile or so to the office each day and back then maybe that is different to putting on a pair of stout walking boots and gettign muddy on a few hills.

That's a good way to look at it; I guess walking 10k takes as much effort as running the same - and twice as long!

Walking takes ruddy ages if you are going long distances. I've always gone 1 point for it but it has seemed highly unfair that it gets the same as cycling.
