Specialized Hardrock and a Specialized Allez. I'm one click away from getting an Ortler Monet city bike, but I need to see how much money I have left after the optician's this weekend.

Well I failed miserably in my aim to re-introduce a cycle commute this morning favouring an extra 30 mins in bed and an earlier start at work as a whole bunch of e-mails had come in yesterday evening and this morning. There was a gap from 00:30 to 06:34 when I didn't receive any emails !

As it happens after yesterdays chat on cycling in the wet, if I had gone for a cycle it would have been in the wet

If I'd cycled it would have been lovely and dry, but windy.

As it is, I run to work on a Friday because I'm lazy.

I'm too stupid to own a BMX(and also rubbish on them) but I have 2 rigid single speed MTBs and have been seen at the pump track :¬)

I own multiple cameras and have never used one except to record me having fun

To be fair if the trucks had cameras on this they may have reported me

I can record a descent of Walsall? It will be about 1 min long and the only exciting part is missing the potholes and soeed bumps

Both times I crashed we pre-wearable camera and I broke my left wrist on both occasions so would have needed copious editing.

About This Thread

Maintained by HappyG(rrr)
There is a nice thread about commuting to work by running, and there are loads of terrifying threads about bikes and cycling which are about carbon and grams of weight and lycra - not this one: how to dry your kit, how to carry/store your work clothes etc. and some bike specific stuff about best mudguards to minimize wet and dirt and maybe some stuff about cycle paths, safety, simple bike maintenance etc.

And if you declare yourself at the outset as:
A. Total bike head, train lots, do bike races/triathlons and the commute bit is just a way of getting extra miles in and is done at full bike training pace.
B. Bike for fitness (either with running as main sport or not) and like to do bike in lycra, at reasonable speed, certainly always shower necessary!

C. Bike is firstly a mode of transport, essential for the commute, sure a bit of fitness is good, but it's secondary. Safe, reliable and clean are the priorities.
