I've got a 1st claim club and a 2nd claim club. For me, as a 48 year male, to get a bronze 5K standard, I would need the following times: Clowne RC: 23.26 (48 male) North Derbyshire RC: 20:38 (45-49 category) I was wondering if anyone who's in a club has a similar club standard award and what your time would have to be for a 48 year male? |

Hi Sombrero-ho-ho-ho My club (Gosport Road Runners) has 10 year age categories, so as a vet 40 the Club Award times for 5K are: Bronze 23:30, Silver 21:30, Gold 18:30, Platinum 18:00.

Cheers Steve, that's my home town! I see lots of Gosport RR's at events when I visit the family once a month.

In my club as V45 male you have to do: Bronze 25:34 Silver 22:41 Gold 20:16 Platinum 18:20 It has to be a 5k and not a parkrun in our club. I have once managed the platinum time for 5k but it was at a parkrun. Not got near it in a road 5k! |

Interesting hellywobs - my 3 fastest times last year at 5K were all at local 5K races, I do parkrun most weekends and I always find them harder due to the crowds etc.

That’s quite a difference between the two clubs Som. Surely bronze needs to be relatively easy to achieve? Perhaps by someone who’s been running consistently for 2y? Wondering how they compare to Fetch standards? |

I've just checked Meg and it's 23.58 so similar to my 1st claim club. I was asked after today's race if I knew about club standards (as it was organised by the club I run 2nd claim for) and I laughed a bit - my PB 20.45 wouldn't be enough for a bronze with them. I used to regularly hit bronze standards for Clowne (1st claim) but wasn't a member - I had a few years where I slowed down after joining so my aim this year is to hit the 23.26 - I got 23.55 at parkrun a few weeks ago so I'm heading in the right direction. |

I should point out my 5K PB was set over 10 years ago so I have never been quick enough by their definition. I would have needed 19:21 for vet mens 35.

I've checked ours - for bronze at 5k you'd need 23.36 for 5k; silver would be 21.27; gold 19.18 Mr AL only ever managed bronze standard at his fittest; Leaflet managed it for the first time last year. We do have a copper too. |

I’ve never heard of such standards at our club. I’ll have a look for you
