Thanks Sioux ... The Greenway has opened since I left Chester so I don't know it at all.
but the description is what I expected from the pictures and the fact it's an ex-railway line. It will be a bit on the dull side but at least it's flat and rural ... in the "canal towpath" category perhaps.
Naomi - the rugby club is right on the western edge of Chester close to the A55/A51 junction ... bit of a hike from the city centre.

Thanks for that Sioux.
The only time I have run along part of the course was on during a short inter club race, which I didn't particularly enjoy although that may have been down to the shortness of the race. I guess I am spoilt with where I run (Snowdonia) and the more local races I do (+ Rhayader)?
For the 1st time I'll be wearing an ipod during a race and I'm looking forward to enjoying the race - and to meet some more Fetchies and sample Sioux's flapjacks again!

And hopefully I'll be able to keep up with you this time JB as no hills for me to die on!!!!!!
I agree not scenic in the way of rhayader and snowdonia but I like open countryside too.
I really think this will be a 'marmite' course. Love it or hate it.

Hi all,
I used to run this route almost every day for years and agree it is not picturesque, but is still a nice route on the whole. Most of it is roman road straight, but this makes it nice and easy to pace and keep steady. My only concern is that it is narrow so I just hope we are spread out by time we get to it.
I reckon the scallies in Blacon may give some of the later runners a welcome, just hope the marshals are all bouncers.
There are a good few points where people can park and come along and watch, Saughall being a good one. You can see people out and then back. It then gets harder to find a spot as you get in to Wales.
It is definately a speedy mara route!
