I'll be driving up in the morning - hoping to hang around afterwards - presumably there is a bar at the Rugby club - I am not aware of any other pubs nearby as I seem to recall the start is actually a couple of miles outside the centre of Chester?

Da Big guy
There is a bar at the RC (1 mile from me). It's also just out of town so out amongst the fields.

I will be travelling from Leeds on Saturday and staying in L'pool until Tuesday. After the run I'm off to my cousin's for a BBQ ... and cold beer. :-)

Hi Guys.

I cycled a fair bit of the route yesterday.

Distances are spray painted on the path ready for the markers.

John Bach - in answer to your question on my blog re course being boring.

I think it could be one of those routes that ppl will either love or hate.
There looks like an initial loop on roads, which are being closed and then on to the 'greenway'.

This is a tarmac path that follows the old railway line. It is very straight for large parts, flat and lined with trees.
It goes through fields and apart from the old bridges over it, there aren't that many land marks.

Now that sounds dreadfully dull but it depends what you like. I like green and rural. Nice views towards the Clwydian range on the way out.

Looks like it'll be a good pb course.
Wish I was doing it, just to close to the Bala middle for me though.

I am about 8 miles from the 'turn' so will cycle down on the day. Had thought about coming to the start but think I need to stay at that bottom end of the course to allow you guys to space out before I try moving round on my bike.
Will then work my way to the finish mithering some of you on the way. No 'backies' though!!!!!

I'm expecting John Bach and Milemonster to be 2 of the 1st Fetchies I get to heckle! :);)

Flapjack will put in an appearance whether I'm there or not. (still waiting for shift rota)
Don't relish the thought of carrying it round all day so will send it with Wrexham Rob in his car.

Hope my route description hasn't put anyone off. I think it's pretty and rural.

Thanks for the route description Sioux, sounds quite nice to me.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get to the race start from centre of Chester and back without your own car?

Thanks S, sounds nice to me, were they your flapjacks that made an appearance at Stratford? I thought the jam worked well and the bird seed ones were nice, made me feel healthy!!

N - it looks like it is 1-2 miles depending on where you are staying in the centre

Hellen - yup that was my flapjack. Rob and Zoom said they HAD to have some seeing as I was taking a shed load to the VLM.

Naomi- should be poss. Not sure of bus routes but even a taxi wouldn't be much. I'd give you lift but tricky on my bike.
