I've got the mid-range Fenix headtorch (can't remember the model name but it was around £65) and its great. Still has that weird looking through binoculars feel you always get with head torches though (or I do at least). Winning feature for me is that you can recharge by usb or pop in a new powerpack or 3 AAA batteries |

For those recommending the Lenser NEO10R From the Lenser website, regards waterproofness, it's stated as "IPX Rating: 4 - protection against water splashing from any direction" Surely you want a headtorch to be used in winter to have a higher rating than "water splashing", I'd expect fully waterproof, whatever IPX rating that is, is it 7 ? Any experience of using in a downpour ? |

Larkim for the rechargeable Lensers and the Alpkit Qark you can purchase rechargeable batteries that allow you to swap out in the way you describe should you be using it when the battery dies. With the SEO7R I've carried a number of spare rechargeables when doing ultras (they're small and light enough to be of no consequence and fit in a pocket). They are alot easier to swap over than say 3xAAA which is the other option with the same torch. Plus they are reuseable.

I guess much depends on the terrain and strength/width of beam you need. For running on fairly level pavement I have used the Decathlon Kiprun 250 for many trouble free years but, I wouldn’t run through trail or paths without some form of street lighting. |

I've had no problems Gus with it in pouring rain and it's difficult looking at it how water would ingress unless you held it under water for a while. There is a USB port with a flexible plastic pop out cover that I could see being a problem if you submersed it but otherwise not. (The SEO7R is rated IPX 6 and I've used that extensively in mountain conditions that were as bad as I would want to be out in) |

I think IPX4 is effectively meaning "rain" rather than "can be completely submerged underwater" or hit by powerful jets of water.

Bonners - I bought this one last year after V’rap recommended it. amazon.co.uk It’s great, very adjustable straps, I find it comfy to wear, and two light settings. The tilt of light itself can be adjusted easily whilst running which I find very useful on the steep Welsh hills we have in these parts 😁 |

ff - yeah I guess in reality ipx4 is fine, I checked my own alpkit one, and that's what is, and I thought it was waterproof 😅
