Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The great dollop
they put on extra P&R busses last year, I caught one at about 8:45 from Milton road - empty except for one other person. Arrived at site with about 30 minutes to go - although I had no bag drop to worry about.

They organised an andvanced purchase ticketing system and the wording on the website was poor - suggesting that the last bus would be at 8am (I think). Lots of people turned up ridiculously early because of it - but I guess it did mean that everyone was there ontime.

I'm sure they will put out info on the Park and Ride nearer the time, but as the others say - just park down the defreville estate if you can find a gap, because As OllyW says - the council does f'k all about it (and they didn't between 1981 to 2003 either when my parents lived round there).

I'm not in this year because it cost me too much in lost work, but thoroughly enjoyed it last year, and good to hear (but not see yet) that the new route has changed. Ironically the tightest turns were on Jesus green last year - not in town, so will be interesting to see if that's been worked out.

Good luck to all those who run in it !

I am going to the Cambridge Half training evening tomorrow (cos I need a bit of running advice) but I am not really sure what it involves. Is anyone else going or went to the last one?

My friend when to the last one. She really enjoyed it but is a fairly new runner. Said there was lots of info about nutrition and running style. Unfortunately for her she tried to change her running style and hurt her hip so was out of action for a bit but is fine now. She seemed really impressed with it but how informative it would be for an experienced runner, i don't know. Still nice to run with people though.

Settle an argument for me please! Is this run entirely on closed roads?

I have a local yokel trying to tell me "they can't possible be closing the middle of Cambridge!"

Some of them were closed entirely in the middle of town, but they were pedestrian areas anyway. Roads like Chesterton Road and Elizabeth Way were closed on one side of the road and had traffic on the other side (I think in fact Elizabeth way we had half of one side of the road + pavement so it flowed both ways)

Last year there were fully closed roads and some roads where one lane was coned off for runners and the rest of the road was available for cars, either two-way or temporary one-way.
There are no places where cars will be driving in the same lane as runners, that would be incredibly dangerous in a city centre race of this size, but Cambridge isn't completely closed either.

Chesterton road from elizabeth way to castle street will be the main closure to work around in a westerly direction, otherwiseit will be interesting to see what they do with fen causeway up to kings street. The whole of the backs were shut last year, so anticipate it being the same.

There is a map on the race website - although this doesn't show closures you can figure it out - dload.osb.s3.amazonaws.com

If anyone was wondering about road closeures on the course it tells you during the video which roads are fully closed and which are closed on one side only etc :-)
