I had a vague (but not inaccurate) idea what punch-out was, and also know who Illumina are. This may make life easier for some of my colleagues.

It does clearly qualify as "needlessly violent metaphor for mundane activity".

[I have been known to dash around an office of 300 people shouting about an issue, to stop them all calling the Service Desk. It gets the steps in.]
