My copy will (so I am told) arrive between the 4th and 6th of January. And yes, Scribbler, I was wondering about the risk of insomnia. Maybe I'll make a point of reading it only in the morning, and have something different to read in bed at night. |

Just received an telling telling me I've won a Goodreads book give-away, The Trouble With Goats And Sheep by Joanna Cannon, which is nice. I also won the Euromillions lottery last night so have an additional £4.70 to spend on books.

Acquired Nod on my Kindle last night for the princely sum of 99p. That will be my first new read of 2017. Looking through my list of books read, I finished 33 books in 2016 which is surprising as my previous best in a year was 26! Too much spare time on my hands obviously |

Thanks for heads up about Nod for 99p. I'm not terribly keen on reading on my Kindle but that's too good to resist!

15 in 2016 for me - which is high by my standards, esp given my penchant for high fantasy and space opera, neither genre being known for the brevity of its major works.

I posted an 'outdoor' blog about my books of the year. Think that Americanah should have made that list too, but wanted to get the post published. Anyway it's over here if anyone is interested: word-struck.com

Just finished the excellent Christopher Brookmyre's Black Widow - 52nd book of the year. Lots of crime fiction and psychological thrillers in amongst those many instantly forgettable. Favourite book of the year however was A Man Called Ove which had me laughing one minute and crying the next. Next up Nod.
