Mrs D got given a book by Lucy Foley entitled “The Midnight Feast”. I’ve heard of Foley before, she’s also had bestsellers called “The Hunting Party” and “The Guest List”. I might give this a go. One thing that put me off is this quote on the back

I mean, Nita Prose, that’s got to be a made-up sock-puppet name?

I read the prologue and the first page. It’s awful.

^ Made me think of Frankie Howerd in Up Pompeii "And now ...the Prologue..." I was going to link a YouTube of that but it was so bum-clenchingly awful that I haven't.

In the meantime - some stuff for the Aug book now over there:----> or there VVV

My reservation is ready for collection. Need to drag myself away from watching the Olympics to go and pick it up.

The Dutch House is not disappointing. Ann Patchett is one of those novelists who is a level above most others. Somehow she can make anything compelling. You read the blurb and think this one's not for me, and then she proves you wrong.
