three-body problem I 3-starred on goodreads - my review: Diverting/just about competent enough, but mostly derivative (apart from the "sophon" idea of encoding information in a proton unfolded to 11 dimensions) and wildly preposterous in many key respects. At a loss to understand all the awards/nominations.

I've read a couple of pages and it's definitely a bit clunky! Sometimes if I've already seen an adaptation it can help get through a book that's not easy to read. I'll think about it and see if Kindle does a special offer

ION I've started THH. I like the style of it but I've read waaay too much dystopian stuff recently so this really has to be the last one for the next year or so!

Independence Day is good. Its main fault is that it’s about a middle aged white guy, written by a middle aged white. It’s a common trope. Ford does it better than most.

I'm only four chapters in, but so far, I agree with Dio

Half way through THH - it's kind of melancholic. I'm away for a few days in Bilbao, not sure it's exactly holiday reading material. Luckily I have Kindle on my phone so I have some alternatives if I need something a bit less taxing

I finished Independence Day today. It's a very good book, but I won't be writing a long review.

I'm about half way through Independence Day and finding it a slog.

THH is very much not a book to read on an airplane! Much better suited to reading before sleep. Not far to go, may finish before I get back.
My other book is Nobody Walks by Mick Herron which turns out to be a Slough House offshoot. Good fun!
