Curious... when you folks talk about the KLF book, do you mean in a justified and ancient sense? Or is it just someone's initials?

I never *got* KLF either musically or as performance artists.

Ah, I see that it *is* the KLF I am thinking of :-)

amazon.co.uk

That's going in my basket (where all the books I contemplate reading go. Some even make it past the basket and into my house!)

I always look at the one star reviews. The people who don't like this book are the ones who want and expect a straight pop biography. This isn't that, it is far more interesting and (dare I say) illuminating. (You'll understand that last bit if you read the book.)

You don't have to like the KLF as a band or performance artists (The former I like a couple of songs by, the latter I found abhorrent - re: burning of a million pounds) to enjoy the book. In fact I suspect you may get more out of it as a non-fan! But I do think Higgs makes a great attempt to explain why they burned a million without ever endorsing it, but making it sound like a "logical endpoint".

It was Ben Goldacre (him of Bad Science) raving about it on Twitter years back that made me take notice of the book I seem to recall.

I downloaded a sample of the Duck book for a laugh and read a coupleof pages. It really is like being stuck inside my head - horrifying :-o I wasn't tempted anyway but now I know it's definitely not for me :-)
