The reviewer managed four chapters. In a Patterson book that's going to be less than 20 pages.
Hate to defend Patterson but this is a reviewer who decided to write a snotty review and then picked up the book and found something to hang it on.
It's still a dreadful sentence, mind.

"Patterson has often said that collaborating with others brings new and interesting ideas to his stories. Of his process, he has stated that he is simply more proficient at dreaming up plots than crafting sentence after sentence."
"Crafting sentence after sentence" is exactly what being a writer is all about.

I've read Kiss The Girls and it's not his worst work by a long chalk! I got it along with another of his books as an Xmas present. Can't remember what the other one was called but it was much worse.

I used to want to read Patterson. But got put off that he doesn't write his own books. He must have done at one stage though

Sure what that passage should say is:
Patterson has often said that collaborating with others brings new and interesting additions to his current account. Of his process, he has stated that he is simply more proficient at dreaming up money-making ideas than crafting sentence after sentence, preferring to let others do the real work."

I’ve started The Man In The Red Coat by Julian Barnes. It’s an intriguing read, more a non-fiction account than a novel, and another addition to Barnes Francophilia

Rather ridiculously given the state of the world, I have started One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich because the tale of a man imprisoned in a Soviet labour camp has to be a barrel of laughs, right?

It’s a good book though as I remember it. And I believe the author wrote - crafted the whole thing

My school did a musical version of it when I was 11ish. I loved it. My parents hated it iirc
