Was Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel a recommendation from this thread?

Just finished it as my first book of the year and liked it enough to seek out more by the same author.

This one is set in North America after a global pandemic that’s wiped out about 99% of the earth’s population. Disparate characters tangentially connected by their life before. Really nicely underwritten.

I read it. I liked it. We had The Glass Hotel by her I think.

I thought it was one of the choices, or maybe it was a bonus choice? I also liked The Glass Hotel, chose it as a book present for a friend this Christmas :-)

It was a book group book. I’ll check back whether it was a main book or a bonus

Bonus. My favourite book of all time, possibly. Then I adored The Glass Hotel too.

I’ve been promising myself I will only make positive comments about things, but I have to say I found both Station Eleven and The Glass Hotel hugely underwhelming, Station Eleven especially so. Not bad, just weak.

Got something to say?
