A couple of adventurous (American) friends of mine took a sabbatical from work and hiked the Appalachian Trail, their stories gave me nightmares ..... seriously, would you go anywhere near a bear? Scott's book was interesting. Ironic that the park authorities tried to fine him for spilling champagne on the hallowed ground at the finish!

(Even though Dr S has given the concept her blessing!) I don't suppose you have a blog or report of the experience anywhere, Pou Pou?

I was 58 when I started - there were plenty of people over 60 on trail. It was a great experience, although if I were to do it again, I might choose the PCT.
