Merlin gave me a couple of howlers yesterday - it suggested nightjar in the middle of the day and identified a greenfinch as a serin.

My haul from an amble round Haddo House Estate today.
We also saw a buzzard and heard a pheasant but was recording at the time.

One of my absolute favourites this morning: the plaintive, single-note call of the golden plover

Nature walk on Friday heard an American goldfinch and a black capped chickadee. The latter was very tame as it was on the ground a couple of feet away from us.

Long tailed tit on Merlin today. They sounded very high pitched and I wonder if it was a flock of young

I saw three from our lounge window today and a group half a mile or so away from home up the village this evening

About This Thread

Maintained by Mandymoo
I am a bit of a geek and love listening to the bird song

I use the Merlin app all the time and the grandsons now also love it too.

We are lucky that our garden is full of birds, and the wonderful songs (apart from the seagulls)

Would love to see what others hear on their walks
