Think I'm down to this lot:

Trek 1.9

Spec Roubaix Elite

Bianchi 1885 105 / Veloce

Felt F75

I'll go to Evans with this list and stick to my budget. See what they say. Apparently the one at Waterloo Cut is the best for range and advice

Come to the Canary Wharf one BB and meet me for coffee. It's a good shop here.

Good call re. which Evans.

Just a personal thing, but while I love the 105 on my Focus, I'd go for Veloce on the Bianchi for obvious reasons.

As has been said earlier, I just would struggle to form an emotional attachment with a Trek or Spec, good bikes though they may be,

My heart says the Bianchi, my head says the Felt...

I don't heart my Trek as such but it's a good colour. Which is about as technical as I get on bikes. Funny how I just can't get excited about the spec, maybe coz I find the cycling a bit of a chore compared to the running/swimming. Never be a *real* triaflete will I?

I have a Giant TCR... but I bought 2nd hand... and that seemed to fit me. Very high spec for what I paid for it, light, and I love it!!! Turned out to be a good bike for me...

Oooh compact. I raced on a Giant SCR3 last year as mentioned before, rented from thos nice Tri UK people. Before that it was a *horrible* old Peugeot 531 monstrosity with downtube shifters.

Yeah, it is a compact... I like it, because I have long legs and short upper body and the geometry just suits me... it is VERY light as well... It weighed 7.8 kgs when I got it... Now it has heavier wheels, a bottle cage, pump and tool bag it is heavier...

Bizarrely I've got short legs and a long body. My compact suits perfectly though - the only 'unusual' feature is a long stem.

105 (flightdeck), Profile Century bars. Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels (Campy as such) - so German bike, Japanese groupset, Italian wheels, French pedals...
