I guess it also varies on the type of terrain you cycle on and how hard you push it. 4 miles off road will require more effort than 4 miles on road.

stpetecycling.com This is what I used. But I am replacing running miles for cycling miles (when I can be bothered!) where rollerman seems to want to supplement his training rather than replace it if that makes a difference.

I need the help of a moderately skilled bike fixer type. Anyone willing to raise their hand?

incase I go before you get back sheldonbrown.com & parktool.com should provide all the answer you'd ever need for bike fixing. |

Well I have replaced the bearings in my headset as it was loose as a loose thing but I nearly died tonight when I went out on it as the stearing is no longer smooth and is quite stiff so turning is jerky.

Loose headset usually just needs tightening? It's when the bearings are crunchy tat they need replacing. Anyway, Did you grease the new bearings and pack the bearing cups with grease as best as possible? If so, then it sounds like you've overtightened the headset when you've re-assembled it. Loosen the stem bolts, then loosen off the top bolt a little, re-tighten the stem bolts, then check for play/tightness. A bit trial and error but you'll get there. |
